§ 1101-55. Inspection of Load-Bearing Concrete Masonry Units.
1101-55.1 General: It shall be unlawful to use load-bearing concrete masonry units manufactured by other than the holder of a valid City of Cincinnati certificate of approval.
1101-55.2 Tests of samples: The director of buildings and inspections shall select samples of each classification of loadbearing concrete masonry units from each manufacturer at least once every 12 months and shall require tests of the said units to determine compliance with §§ 1101-55.3 and 1101-55.4 CBC.
1101-55.3 Hollow load-bearing concrete masonry units: Such units shall be of a quality not less than that specified in ASTM Standard No. C-90, titled: "Standard Specification for Hollow Load-Bearing Concrete Masonry Units" as designated in Appendix A.
1101-55.4 Solid load-bearing concrete masonry units: Such units shall be of a quality not less than that specified in ASTM Standard No. C-145, entitled: "Standard Specification for Solid Load-Bearing Concrete Masonry Units" as designated in Appendix A.
1101-55.5 Issuance of certificate of approval: When load-bearing concrete masonry units comply with the requirements of this section and the fee established under Section 1101-85 has been paid, the director of buildings and inspections shall issue, annually, a certificate of approval to the manufacturer of said masonry units.
1101-55.6 Identification of units: No less than one out of every five load-bearing concrete masonry units shall have applied or formed thereon a mark of identification that will indicate the name and place of business of the manufacturer. No such mark shall be used until a facsimile thereof has been filed with and approved by the director of buildings and inspections.
