Chapter 306. GENERAL COMPENSATION PROVISIONS |
§ 306-43. Union Dues Deduction.
The director of finance is hereby authorized to deduct from the salary or wages of any city employee who belongs to a labor union dues of such labor union as the city employee voluntarily subscribes to in a written authorization filed with the director of finance requesting such deduction.
(a)
The director of finance shall promulgate rules and regulations of the administration of this voluntary check-off of wages including, but not limiting it to, the preparation of necessary forms and the times for filing of the authorization for the deductions, or the time for the filing of the cancellation of a deduction.
(b)
The director of finance is hereby further authorized to draw a warrant on the city treasurer in favor of the labor union designated for all the amounts deducted under the authority granted in this section.
(c)
Each labor union shall pay for the membership dues deducted from the salary of city employees who are members thereof and have authorized such deduction the sum of $2.50 a month if less than 100 of its members have authorized deductions, $5 a month if more than 99 but less than 500 of its members have authorized deductions, $10 a month if more than 499 but less than 1,000 of its members have authorized deductions, $15 a month if 1,000 or more of its members have authorized deductions and $10 a month for each additional 1,000 members having authorized deductions. Provided that no payment for membership dues deduction shall be required of the Fraternal Order of Police, Queen City Lodge No. 69 or the American Federation of State, County, and Municipal Employees, Ohio Council No. 8.
