§ 4. Selection of Promotional Examination Date for Police and Fire.

Whenever a vacancy occurs in a promoted rank and no eligible list for such rank exists, the appointing authority shall certify the fact to the Commission, and the Commission shall within sixty days of such vacancy conduct a competitive promotional examination.

In order to compete for promotion in the Police or Fire Divisions, applicants must meet the time-in-grade eligibility requirements at the time of the examination.
