§ 1203-3. Temporary Use of Diesel-Powered Motor Vehicles.

  • The temporary use or exhibition of diesel-powered motor vehicles, boats or aircraft shall conform to the following:

    (a)

    Written permission shall be obtained from the Fire chief seven days prior to the use or exhibition of any diesel powered motor vehicle.

    (b)

    The installation or operation of all equipment shall be under the supervision of a competent operator.

    (c)

    Fire division personnel shall be employed by the exhibitor whenever vehicle engines are to be used. Where such personnel are required the fire chief shall determine the following:

    (1)

    The number of personnel (a supervisor shall be required where more than one man is employed);

    (2)

    The hourly wage rate.

    (d)

    The maximum amount of diesel fuel permitted to remain in a vehicle tank shall be 10 gallons. Where vehicles are equipped with more than one tank, the aggregate amount of diesel fuel permitted shall be not more than 20 gallons for each vehicle.

    (e)

    A locking type fuel tank cap shall be installed on all fuel tanks, or the tanks shall be sealed in a manner approved by the fire chief.

    (f)

    All batteries shall be disconnected while the vehicle is not in actual use.

    (g)

    Fueling or defueling of vehicles shall not take place inside the building.

    (h)

    All fuel shall be dispensed or removed with approved safety equipment.
