§ 1111-09. Outrigger Scaffolds.

  • During the wrecking of any building or during other construction operations, where deemed necessary, the director of buildings and inspections may require outrigger scaffolds to be constructed on all sides of the building which are within ten feet of a traveled thoroughfare and on all sides that are adjacent to and extend above any occupied building lot. These outrigger scaffolds shall be located not more than two stories below the point where any wrecking or handling of outside wall material is being done. The floor, or platform, of all such outrigger scaffolds shall be tightly laid from the edge of the building and shall be at least eight feet wide with a 42 inch solid railing or footboard at the outside edge. The flooring and its support, or outriggers, shall be capable of sustaining a live load of not less than 125 pounds per square foot.
