§ 1107-03. Referenced Standard

  • Except as otherwise provided herein, the construction, alteration, maintenance, operation, inspections and tests of elevators, dumbwaiters, moving walks, belt manlifts and escalators shall conform to the codes listed in Table 1107-03 CBC.

    Note (a):  ANSI means "American National Standards Institute."
      ASME means "American Society of Mechanical Engineers."

    Note (b):  Rule 102.2(c) of A17.1 shall be in full force and effect.

    Note (c):  Rule 1000.1 of A17.1 shall be changed to read, Inspectors shall hold a certificate of competency as an inspector of elevators issued by the department or State of Ohio Department of Industrial Relations.

    Note (d):  Includes changes adopted by ASME A17.1a-1997, A17.1b-1998

    Note (e):  The Director of Buildings and Inspections may permit the installation of vertical wheelchair lifts to provide for handicapped accessibility where such lifts exceed the maximum travel distance of 12 feet upon the demonstration of a hardship and an equivalent degree of safety.
