§ 1107-03. Elevator Permits.

  • (a)

    The owner or person in control of a premises, building, or structure wherein an elevator is to be constructed, installed, or altered must obtain an elevator permit prior to the construction, installation, or alteration of the elevator.

    (b)

    Application to construct, install, or alter an elevator shall be made on forms prescribed by the director, which form shall include a right of entry authorizing the director to conduct all tests and inspections necessary at reasonable times to determine that the elevator is safe for operation and complies with the requirements of this Chapter, the CBC, the OBC, and the standards incorporated by Section 1107-21.

    (c)

    All applications to construct, install, or alter an elevator must also be accompanied by the applicable fee established pursuant to Section 1101-85.

    (d)

    The director shall issue an elevator permit to an applicant upon determining that an application is complete and meets all applicable requirements of this Chapter, the CBC, the OBC, and the standards incorporated by Section 1107-21.
