"Face area" means the area of the polygon of minimum area with no interior angle greater
than 180 degrees that completely encloses the entire sign face. Provided, however,
any cutout (an irregularly shaped temporary addition to a sign face displayed no more
than 120 consecutive days appurtenant to a particular advertising message) that adds
no more than 5 feet, 6 inches to the vertical measure or no more than 2 feet to the
horizontal measure of the sign face, or is equal to or less than 25% of the face area
of the sign face as measured without including the cutout, whichever is more restrictive,
may be disregarded in the calculation of the face area.
