§ 602-9. Building Code Violations, Powers of Officers.

When the unsanitary condition of any such building or part thereof is, in the opinion
of the board of health, due to the violation of any of the provisions of Title XI
of this code and the ordinances and sections amendatory thereof and supplementary
thereto, and the board shall certify such fact to the director of buildings and inspections,
it shall thereupon be the duty of the director to proceed, in accordance with the
provisions of Title XI, to enforce the provisions thus violated; and thereupon, in
addition to the powers of the director and the methods of enforcement provided in
Title XI, the director may issue and serve, publish or post an order or notice of
vacation upon like terms and conditions and of like purport as is provided in Section 602-7 for orders of vacation issued by the board of health; and it shall be the duty of
the person, firm or corporation thus notified to comply with the terms of such notice
and to vacate or cause the vacation of the building or portion thereof until the provisions
of Title XI have been complied with.
Without any certification from the board of health, the director of buildings and
inspections may enforce the provisions of Title XI, and all sections amendatory and
supplementary thereto, by issuing and serving, publishing or posting notices or orders
of abatement and vacation upon like terms and conditions and of like purport as is
provided in Section 602-7 for notice and orders of abatement and vacation issued by the board of health; and
it shall be the duty of the persons, firm or corporation thus notified to comply with
such notices and orders. All such notices and orders of the director shall be subject
to appeal as provided in the. administrative code.
