§ 509-4. Metered Spaces.

  • (a)

    The city manager may cause lines or marks to be placed on the curb or on the street, about or alongside of each single-space parking meter to designate the parking space for which such single-space meter is to be used, and each vehicle parking alongside of or next to any single-space parking meter shall park within the lines or markings so established. It shall be unlawful to park any vehicle across any such line or mark or to park such vehicle in such way that the same shall not be within the area so designated by such lines or markings, unless such vehicle be too large to be confined in one such space. In the absence of lines or markings, the single-space parking meter posts shall indicate the limits of one or two car parking spaces, and there shall be no parking further than five (5) feet from the nearest meter regulating parking in such space, whether or not such space is occupied by a parked vehicle.

    (b)

    The city manager may cause lines or marks to be placed on the curb or on the street in close proximity to a multi-space parking meter to designate the parking spaces for which such multi-space meter regulates, and each vehicle parking in a space regulated by any multi-space parking meter shall park within the lines or markings so established. It shall be unlawful to park any vehicle across any such line or mark or to park such vehicle in such way that the same shall not be within the area so designated by such lines or markings, unless such vehicle is too large to be confined in one such space. In the absence of lines or markings, signs shall indicate the limits of one or two car parking spaces, and there shall be no parking further than five (5) feet from the nearest sign indicating parking in such space, whether or not such space is occupied by a parked vehicle.
