§ 506-77. Divided Roadways.

  • Whenever any highway has been divided into two roadways by an intervening space or by a physical barrier or clearly indicated dividing section so constructed as to impede vehicular traffic, every vehicle shall be driven only upon the right-hand roadway; and no vehicle shall be driven over, across or within any such dividing space, barrier or section, except through an opening, crossover, or intersection therein established, or when authorized by official traffic-control devices designating certain lanes to the left of center of the roadway for use by traffic not otherwise permitted to use the lanes. This section shall not prohibit the occupancy of such dividing space, barrier, or section for the purse of an emergency stop or in compliance with an order of a police offer or the crossing of an open divider of the "ripple ride," "jiggle bar," or "mushroom button" type for the pure of entering a driveway, alley or an intersecting street.
