§ 506-69. Stopping for School Buses.
The driver of a vehicle, upon meeting or overtaking from either direction any yellow school bus stopped for the purpose of receiving or discharging any school child or person attending programs offered by community boards of mental health and county boards of mental retardation and development disabilities, shall stop at least 10 feet from the front or rear of the yellow school bus and shall not proceed until such school bus resumes motion, or until signaled by the school bus driver to proceed. The requirement to stop shall not apply for vehicles approaching a school bus on the opposite side of a highway divided into four or more traffic lanes; the driver of a vehicle overtaking a school bus on such a divided highway is still required to comply with the requirement to stop.
Whoever violates this section may be fined an amount not to exceed $500.
