§ 401-85. Welfare Institutions Defined.

Latest version.
  • For water rate purposes, the term "welfare institutions" shall include only the classes defined in the sections hereunder and every such class shall be subject to the restrictions set forth in the definition. The term shall under no circumstances include an institution operated for profit or an institution organized directly for the benefit of its supporting members. Applications for classification as welfare institutions shall be filed with the city manager or superintendent of water works. Upon approval of the application, a copy shall be kept on file with the superintendent with a notation of such approval and the authorization of the use of welfare institution rates. The city manager or the superintendent of water works shall from time to time reexamine the right of any such institution to continue to be classified as a welfare institution.

Where a welfare institution operates a commercial business in connection with its work, it shall not be entitled to welfare rates unless the water supplied to such business is separately metered and paid for at regular rates.
