§ 308-55. Personal Equipment and Uniforms for Uniformed Water Works Employees.

  • All water meter readers, water customer service representatives and water works valve operators, who are required to wear uniforms, shall receive from the city, without cost, the first official uniform and their original personal official equipment. Upon leaving the city service, all such official equipment other than uniforms shall be returned to the city.

    In addition to the above, the city manager is hereby authorized to reimburse water meter readers, water customer service representatives and water works valve operators, who are required to wear uniforms, for the purchase of replacement uniforms in an amount of not more than $150.00 per annum for the second and all successive years of employment. Provided, however, that:

    (a)

    The suppliers of the uniform and the uniform itself be approved by the director of water works;

    (b)

    The employee must furnish a receipt evidencing payment for the uniform purchased; and

    (c)

    The director of water works shall be authorized to develop policy guidelines and procedures to implement this section.
