Section 1.

The civil service commission shall consist of three members of recognized character and ability who shall serve for a term of six years. Two members shall be appointed by the mayor, with the advice and consent of the council, and one member shall be appointed by the board of education of the Cincinnati school district. The members serving as of November 4, 2014 shall continue in office until the expiration of their terms. Upon the subsequent expiration of the term of any member appointed by the board of education of the Cincinnati school district, a successor for that member shall be named by the board of education of the Cincinnati school district. Upon the subsequent expiration of the term of any member appointed by the mayor, a successor for that member shall be named by the mayor, with the advice and consent of counsel. In the event of a vacancy the unexpired term shall be filled by appointment by the authority herein authorized to appoint the successor.
